history

With a school that was established in Tudor Times, history has always been held in high regard at Woburn Lower School, with children aware of the generations that have studied in the building before them. The history curriculum makes full use of resources within the immediate vicinity, enabling children to develop a deeper understanding of the history of their local area. The Roman road of Watling Street lies only a few miles away, the school stands beside the local museum and the history of Woburn Abbey is interlinked with that of the school. Topics are informed by the National Curriculum and are sensitive to the children’s interests, it is planned and structured to ensure that current learning is linked to previous learning and that the school’s approach is linked by current pedagogy.
