Hello everyone.
Just to let you all know that I will be using our Owls' Class Dojo page to give updates about the exciting learning and activities we do in class along with photographs to share instead of writing my weekly Blog.
I hope I will be coming on home adventures with you all again soon and we will post photos of all the fun things we do during my weekend visits on Hugo's page.

Hello everyone.
Our story this week has been the Gunpowder Plot. The children loved acting it out and dressing up as the various characters.
We made 3-D fireworks and firework pictures which you will be able to see on our display phtographs. We also sang a firework song.
At the end of the week we had our pretend fireworks party where we built a bonfire in the classroom, drank hot chocolate and toasted marshmallows. What fun! You will be able to see the photos of our ‘Bonfire Friday Fun Day’ on the school website soon.
In Maths we have been learning how to use our new Numicon resources and can now make our own Numicon number line independently.
Next week is the special celebration of Diwali.

Hello everyone.
The children have been learning all about babies this week and we have been reading ‘Avocado Baby’ and talking about the foods babies eat.
We made salt dough babies and next week we will paint and display them in the style of Anne Geddes. We had great fun looking at the different ways she photographs babies and we have talked about our favourite way to put them up on our class display.
In Mathematics we have been learning our numbers to 100 and using the splat hundred square which you can also do at home by going to the website http://www.primarygames.co.uk/pg2/splat/splatsq100.html. We are also becoming experts at adding too. Next week we will be taking away.

Hello everyone.
Hello everyone.
This week we have been learning all about Autumn and the changes that happen at this time of year. We began our week by looking at signs of Autumn.
In Mathematics the children have been learning about 3-D shapes and their properties. We are becoming very good at remembering shape names.
n Mathematics the children have been looking at and making repeating patterns. They are real experts at this! I am also so impressed that they can name the four basic 2-D shapes and they are learning much harder 2-D shape names through singing ‘The Shape Song 2’ on YouTube.
In phonics, Reception children are half-way through Phase 2. They are very excited about getting this far with their phonics learning. You can visit one of our favourite phonics websites at www.phonicsplay.co.uk to play some of the games we play in class.
Next week we will be learning all about Harvest.

In Mathematics we have been revising our 2-D shapes and learning the ‘Shape 2’ song on youtube. I think the children will be shape experts when they leave Reception!
We are working our way through Phase 2 phonics and will get a special certificate at the end. You can play some of the games we play in school at www.phonicsplay.co.uk. Our favourite game is ‘Buried Treasure’.

Welcome to Owls Class everyone!
We have had such a fun start to the Autumn term with our new friends. Everyone has settled in really well.
This week we have been focussing on finding and writing our names. We have started our reading books too. We will soon be able to read books on-line at home through the Bug Club reading scheme.
In Mathematics we have been learning how to count to twenty and back through number songs and games. We are now becoming experts at this! You can practise counting back from 20 by visiting: Youtube - www.youtube.com/watch?v=srPktd4k_O8. We had lots of fun singing it in class!
In PE we learnt some fun stopping and starting games. Mrs Black was very impressed with our listening skills. She is going to make it more difficult next week!
In our first couple of weeks we will be talking about our families such as who we live with, how many people are in our home and what we do when we go home after school. This week we have drawn lots of lovely pictures and tried to write some words.
I am in Mrs Black’s utility room at the moment waiting to go for a swim in her washing machine. Hopefully, I will be all fresh and clean and I will soon be able to go home with someone at the weekend (once the corona virus has gone). I wonder who it will be?
